— Frequently Asked Questions —

Bartholomew Bakery wants to be your top choice European bakery in Vaughan. We are much more than just a bread bakery, though. We also specialize in French pastries and sourdough. Our artisanal breads, pastries, and seasonal confections are handmade from scratch.

At Bartholomew Bakery, we offer daily fresh baked goods influenced by the Canadian seasons. At our local bakery in Vaughan, we source ethically and from local farmers whenever possible. We offer a basic line of baked goods along with bi-weekly specialty pastries and bread. Our goal is to provide freshness and quality in each bite!

DO YOUR PRODUCTS CONTAIN ANY PRESERVATIVES?

Not now and not ever. At Bartholomew Bakery, we believe natural is always best, and we only use the finest, most natural ingredients available. All of the flour we use is unbleached, additive free, and contains zero stabilizers or dough conditioners.

I PLACED A LATE ORDER BUT WANT (NEED) TO HAVE MY BARTHOLOMEW BAKED GOODS THIS WEEK, CAN I PICK UP?

Yes. We offer a curb-side pick-up between the hours of 7 and 10am, 7 days a week

CAN I HAVE MY BREAD SLICED?

Yes! We're able to slice all of our loaves (excluding our Ancient Grain Tin Loaf). Our slicer is set to 5/8 inch and cannot be adjusted.

ARE YOUR PRODUCTS NUT FREE?

Unfortunately, while we practice safe practices and follow all legally-mandated health and safety guidelines to avoid cross-contamination, we do not operate in a certified nut-free facility.

CAN I PURCHASE YOUR BAKED GOODS FOR SOMEONE ELSE?

Well aren’t you the nicest human ever! You sure can! All we would need is their name(s), address, and the message you would like written on the bag.

ARE YOUR BREADS VEGAN-FRIENDLY?

Yes they are! In fact, our sourdough breads are made by using only flour, water & salt (that’s actually it). Our Ancient Grain Tin loa however, is not vegan-friendly.

TELL ME MORE ABOUT MY SOURDOUGH’S SHELF LIFE.

Our sourdough has a shelf-life of between 3 and 5 days. Depending on humidity and storage, you may need to toast the slice to bring back its freshness. If you aren't going to eat the loaf within 2 days, please request for your loaf to be sliced. Upon delivery you can freeze it immediately and pull out slices to toast as desired.

HOW SHOULD I STORE MY BARTHOLOMEW BAKED GOODS?

Sourdough: We recommend keeping your bread in its original packaging. Once it’s been sliced, store it face down in the bag. This prevents air from getting into the product and will keep it from going stale quickly.

Pastries: If you aren't going to eat them within a day (or the minute you receive them), please store them in an airtight container and freeze. To reheat, place frozen pastries on a parchment lined baking sheet and into a 350°C for 5 to 7 minutes, allow pastries to cool before enjoying.

Can You Take Online Orders?

Yes, absolutely we can! At this moment in time, there is only a submission form on our website. Once submitted, a member of our team will contact you within 48 hours. We strive to provide excellent customer service along with our delectable baked goods.

Can I Call You to Order Something?

Yes, during our bakery hours of Tuesday through Friday you can call on the same day to reserve your order. Call us Tuesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Wednesdays through Fridays from 8:00 a.m. through to 3:00 p.m.

Please note, we will NOT set any orders aside on Saturday and Sunday between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

What Are Your Payment Options?

We accept cash, credit cards, and debit cards.

What Makes Your Bread and Flour Different?

Our sourdough is made with clean flours. Although the flours we use are not certified organic, they have NO extra preservatives, shelf stabilizers, bleach, or enriched flour blends. With this approach, we believe it is much better in taste as well as digestibility.

Are Your Breads Gluten-Free?

No, we are sorry, but nothing in our bakery is considered gluten-free.

Does Your Bread Have Yeast?

Our bread is 100% naturally leavened, meaning we use time (and patience) with the finest and purest flour and water for dough to rise. For our sourdough breads, only wild yeast is used.

Does Your Bread Contain Trans-Fat?

No, as we use only natural ingredients with no added preservatives and clean flour, our breads are created without added trans-fat properties.

Do You Offer Product Tastings?

Due to the risk of contamination, we do not offer product tastings. If you are in the market for catering and specialty orders, speak to one of our friendly team members about product tastings. Our goal is to provide all customers the specific baked goods they seek.

Do You Make Any Sugar Free Products/Items?

We do not make any sugar-free products. With that being said, we rotate our menu on a constant basis to bake with what's in season. This way, we can minimize the amount of sugar added into our products due to the natural sweetness of the fruits.

Do You Have Cakes?

Stay tuned...we can’t wait to show you what we have been working on!

Can You Make Allergy-Free Desserts?
